The. Last. Page.

Posted: 29th July 2010 by Diamond Sutra in General, Translation

This is the last page of Tenra that is left untranslated. After this evening, that will no longer be the case. Editing is 50% done, the rest will be complete after this weekend. And after GenCon? …Phase Four begins.

Quick aside: Folks have been asking “Tenra: When will it be ready? Is it even coming out anymore?” The answers are “soon”, and “absolutely, barring death.” My next post I’ll be addressing that. Also: Thanks to Guy Shalev, for finding me a kick-ass theme! For now, just a quick behind-the-scenes. I have a career! My [...]

Tenra Talk : Interview One : Ewen Cluney, Translator

Posted: 18th February 2008 by Diamond Sutra in General, Translation

Hi all, this is the first in a series of interviews with people working on the English Tenra Bansho project. Today we’ll be asking questions of one of the core people who helped translate parts of the game (of which is currently now being put together, localized, edited and the like), Ewen Cluney. Without further [...]

THE MACHINE CAN NOT BE STOPPED

Posted: 14th February 2008 by Diamond Sutra in General, Translation

Listen. And understand. That translator is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you have the game in your hands. Last night I sat down to do an hour or two of translation, supplemental [...]

Almost There!

Posted: 13th February 2008 by Diamond Sutra in General, Translation

The week I took off work for translating (and relaxation, work’s been hectic) helped me push ahead pretty far. There’s about 10 more solid hours of translation/localization left before we can begin the editing phase. I’m daring the notion of a GenCon 2008 release: I’ll be at the big con anyway, so I want to [...]

It’s a little late for New Year’s Greetings, but I figured better late than never. Speaking of Better Late than Never, what’s happening with Tenra Bansho? Well, this is an interim post: I planned on coming in and dropping some new info, but I’ll save that for later in the week. For now, I’ve taken [...]

Still charging ahead

Posted: 3rd October 2007 by Diamond Sutra in Rules, Translation

Much more personable than a PR, this post we peek behind the curtain to see what kind of work is going on… Finished Persona 3, which was a wonderful distraction from things. Have gone back to translating hardcore, 3-5 hours per night after work. Knocked out all general rules, halfway through combat. Not too much [...]

Status of the Game!

Posted: 8th July 2007 by Diamond Sutra in FEAR (the Japanese company), General, Translation

Hey all, in the interest of full disclosure to the patient fans and all, I figured that I’d share some background on the project. We recently hit some milestones, but we’ve still got a long way to go. More recently, after discussions on Story Games, I’ve decided that the game really needs to do more [...]

Something Fun…

Posted: 13th March 2007 by Diamond Sutra in General, Translation

I’ll have more “game stuff” in another week or two. Until then, here’s a picture I found tonight when I was digging through some old J-RPG files. At one point, on RPGNet, right after I got this game I posted a bunch of scans of the great interior art (color and B&W and the like). [...]

Turning Up The Heat…

Posted: 28th January 2007 by Diamond Sutra in Characters, General, Rules, Translation

I just noticed that I haven’t posted an update for quite a few weeks. Since the previous post, I’ve run the game about eight times (all one-shots) with five different scenarios.  Solidifying the rules in play has been a real rewarding experience.  I’ve had ideas for areas that needed “fixing” for the English edition, but [...]
